Quiz One. Sounds of the Sixties
Hello and welcome to the very first iconic pop music quiz. Below are twenty famous songs from the 1960s. The catch is each is written in symbols and not in words. You have to work out the song represented and name the artist. A symbol for a word will not change throughout all of the quizzes. Thus, if you find out that a symbol of a bee is used to represent the word 'be' in one answer, if you ever encounter it again it will still represent 'be' (or some variant of 'be' such as been or being). Some are easy to figure out, some are not! How would you depict the word 'the' for example? It is not easy to draw 'the' as a symbol. However, I have tried and the same symbol is used throughout all the quizzes. Once you discover a symbol means a certain thing, it will always mean that or some slight variant of it. Thus, the quizzes should get a little easier the more that you do. Sometimes I have used a symbol for a word that is a homophone (bear and bare, pail and pale for example), you just need to be creative and figure it out! Remember, I am not trying to trick anyone, the songs are all well known. Nothing too obscure. Give it a go and good luck! The first one is done for you to illustrate the concept
