The LITTLEstep
The Little Step-by-Step is one of the most useful and versatile Easy Tech devices to which every classroom should have access !
It is easy to programme and allows either a single message or a series of messages to be recorded. The Learner is then encouraged to step sequentially through the recorded messages. Such motivating activities help to develop communication.
There can be up to 45 messages totalling 120 seconds.
Games can be played, stories read, songs sung, music played and instructions given. Choosing can be encouraged, turn-taking demonstrated, conversations initiated, maintained and closed, and real-time interaction can occur!
Interactions such as joke telling, sharing life stories and general conversations encourage the individuals who use AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to move beyond simply communicating wants and needs to using real communication for conversational purposes.
